Top skin care myths and their truths around anti-aging

As we age, our skin changes. We may start to see wrinkles, sagging, dark spots, and other changes. And while we can’t stop the aging process, we can take steps to keep our skin looking its best. But with so much information – and misinformation – out there, it can be hard to know what works and what doesn’t. In this blog post, we’ll separate the facts from the fiction when it comes to anti-aging skin care treatments.

Myth 1: Pre-mature aging is a genetic defect

Truth: In addition to gene defects, some external factors can cause signs of aging. These factors include an unbalanced diet, lack of adequate nutrition, unhealthy lifestyle habits, the climate you live in, pollution, stress, direct exposure to the sun and many more.

Myth 2: It is not necessary to apply sunscreen on cloudy or winter days

Truth: The majority of women actually believe in this myth. No matter whether or not outside weather is cloudy or sunny, note that the UV rays released by the sun reach the earth’s surface even through dense clouds. This means direct exposure of skin to outdoor climate has the potential to create risks such as age spots, wrinkles, sagging, fine lines and pigmentation.  In addition, it can also cause skin cancer, so sunscreen as a protective layer should be applied on the face as well as the neck before you leave home.

Myth 3: Stop using anti-aging facial products once you see improvement

Truth: Anti-aging facial products are meant to be used for a long time, even after visible results. To look younger and banish the signs of ageing, you shouldn’t have to abstain from their products. To maintain the effectiveness of youth, you may need to use them consistently.

Myth 4: One product is good for all skin types

Truth: Both men and women have different skin types, which is why anti-ageing products are different for men and women. In simple words, anti-aging for men which may be effective for them does not mean that it will prove to be good for women.

Myth 5: Healthy eating habits don’t matter if you’re out of the acne phase

Truth: Literally, genetics may be moderate to blame, but if you stick to a healthy lifestyle, and diet appropriately with plenty of nutrients and vitamins besides aging skin care, you’ll be likely to beat ageing skin.

Myth 6: Anti-wrinkle products & treatments have potential risk

Truth: This is true to some extent, but it does not mean that you should not even try the products. Even the best anti-aging facial treatment exfoliate the skin, but they are tolerable if you start slowly or gradually.

Myth 7: The more expensive the product, the more effective it will be

Truth:  While that is completely true, and cost indicates how anti-aging treatment effect will be, the product you use should be suited to your skin type, be it expensive or affordable.
